First love

まだ携帯電話が無い時代、はじめてメロディーが「降ってくる」という体験をした。「ありふれた恋と呼ぶにも～ありふれた愛と呼ぶにも～♪」何が自分に起こったのかよく分からなかったが、急いで書き留めなければ、と思い、目の前にあった公衆電話に駆け込み、家の留守番電話に録音した。中学生の時の話だ。天が書かせてくれた歌詞とメロディーが沢山の人の琴線に触れますように。

Back in the days before cell phones, I experienced having a melody 'fall from the sky' for the very first time. 'Too ordinary to call a romance, too ordinary to call a love…' I didn't really understand what was happening to me, but I knew I had to write it down immediately. I rushed into a nearby public phone booth and recorded it onto my answering machine at home. I was only a junior high school student then. I hope this melody and lyrics-written through me by the heavens-will touch the hearts of many.
